The university’s emblem represents the rose of Sharon and is a circle shape.
The circle symbolizes the endless and great ultimate universe. The exterior structure with the form of the rose of Sharon refers to five elements, which represent eternal changes, development, and harmony based on the universe of Yin-Yang, and the 5 elements. -
University Symbol
As an animal of courtesy, faithfulness (Seongsil), piety (Gyeonggeon), and conviction, the cow symbolizes the foundational spirits of the university, which are faithfulness, piety, and conviction.
The animal’s spirit is a virtue that every university student should pursue. Through this spirit, we aim to achieve nurturing people with professionalism, a global perspective, and a voluntary spirit.
Ultimately, we seek harmony between the nation and human society. -
University Bird
As a large bird 140cm in height, the crane has a black head from forehead to eye, chin, and neck and red protruding skin at the top of the head, while its body is black.
The second and third feathers are black and extend further to cover the body.
The beak is yellowish green, and the tail is black, which is elegant and sophisticated.
Matching this appearance, the crane symbolizes purity and elegance, symbolizing the virtues of Daejin University’s students, who are pure, innocent, and righteous. -
University Tree
The pine tree is spread throughout the entire nation, having a strong life and greenness to persevere all hardships in four seasons as a unique tree of Korea.
As one of the Four Noblemen (plum, orchid, chrysanthemum, and bamboo), the pine tree symbolizes an invincible willingness and fidelity.
It sufficiently symbolizes the spirit of Daejin University, which aims to maintain our beautiful tradition without any change.
Therefore, the pine tree symbol represents the existence of Daejin University students who sustain our history in this ever-changing society.
Further, the tree symbolizes the university’s conviction to focus on autonomous and independent human education. -
University Flower
Mugunghwa (Rose of Sharon), an emblem of the Korean ethnic group, is also Daejin University’s official flower.
Mugunghwa blooms every early morning between July and October for a hundred days. The ecological trait of Mugunghwa well represents our ethnicity which never fades.
The Classic of Mountains and Seas - a Chinese classic text, describes Korea as a country where Mugunghwa blossoms and falls.
The flower symbolizes resilience and persistence as if it speaks for the history of our national crisis.
That said, Daejin University’s official flower, Mugunghwa, embodies Daejinian’s spirit that never yields and despairs despite any hardships to overcome. -
University Color
The color blue refers to a deep heart (generosity) like ocean, purity, and cleanliness; it also represents contemplation, sincere wish, and eternity. Blue is used to mean freshness or uncharted happiness, which can be seen in “cheonggwa” (As “cheong” means “blue,” the word means “fresh fruits”) and “cheongun” (The word means “aspirations”).
As the phrase “Boys, be ambitious” indicates, the color encourages us to have our dreams, symbolizing the youth’s willingness and spirits. Therefore, blue represents the spirits of Daejin University’s students, who strive to devote themselves to the neighborhood with their generous hearts and contribute to developing the nation and human race by sacrificing themselves.
